Innkeeping

The Carson women did the innkeeping at the Carson Inn, later to be called the Stagecoach Inn. 

In 1876 John Carson took a second plural wife, Emma Partridge. Emma Carson did the innkeeping at the Carson Inn with her children until her death in 1935. Her daughter Minnie was the cook and after Emma died, Minnie added the responsibility of innkeeping.

Women did the innkeeping work at the Carson Inn. First, Elvira Carson and her children did the innkeeping and homemaking. When John Carson took a second plural wife, Emma Carson and her children did the cooking, innkeeping work and housework. When polygamists were being prosecuted, John had Emma move to Provo, as her children were out of the house. When John died, Emma also took in miners' laundry. Emma's daughter Minnie Carson Tegan cooked in the inn for guests and borders.
